The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) interim leadership at Katonga has said that, the Najjanankumbi FDC Delegates Conference convened by the party President on Friday, October 6, 2023, and elections presided over by Toterebuka Bamwenda, the party Electoral Commissioner was unlawful according to the party constitution, and any time, the court will nullify its resolutions.

Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa, the party Chairperson said that, he is the only one with the constitutional mandate to convene a meeting of such caliber stating that, what was done by the Najjanankumbi faction on October 6th  were mere political games that should be nullified by the court.

“So don’t be misled by anyone or the no sense that is coming from Najjanankumbi that they have new delegates. Those delegates are null and void. You have the legitimate delegates who were here on September 19th. So, rejoice because the devil has been defeated,” Birigwa said.

While speaking at the press conference held at FDC offices at Katonga Road in Kampala on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago wondered where the different media houses have picked the propaganda that Justice Musa Ssekaana okayed what he called the Nandala-Amuriat delegates conference.

“The case is still in Court. We filed the case as instructed by the delegate’s conference on September 19th, to challenge the delegate’s conference on October 6th. That case has not been heard and one cannot say that the Najjanankumbi delegates conference was cleared, until the case has been brought to finality,” Lukwago said.

According to Lukwago, what Ssekaana did was refrain from granting temporary reliefs but not pronounce in finality on the legality of that delegates conference on October 6th.

Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda, the party Spokesperson of the Katonga faction said that, the legal battle between both factions has just started, adding that, the Najjanankumbi faction has no success in the future.

The Najjanankumbi faction under Engineer Patrick Oboi Amurait and Nathan Nandala Mafabi held a successful National Delegates Conference on October 6th which elected the new leadership of FDC, where the duo were maintained as party President and Secretary General respectively.

The legal brains have since advised leaders of the Katonga faction that, they will only be legitimate should they get cleared by the party leaders at Najjanankumbi according to the party constitution.
