The Council of Elder Persons and leaders of Teso sub region have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the sole candidate for the ruling National Resistance Movement party in the 2026 presidential elections.
The elders, led by their Chairperson, Teddy Acham, aka Mama Acham, declared President Museveni as their sole candidate in the coming elections.
This was during the Teso leaders meeting held on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, held at Kumi Booma Grounds in Kumi Municipality.
They applauded him for prioritizing the welfare of elder persons in Uganda, adding that without President Museveni, they would not be having representation in Parliament.
“We would like to applaud you for supporting our initiatives, and we also commended you to the president for the social and economic mobilizations that have continued to spur wealth among Ugandans,” Acham said.
“We, the chairperson of the Elder Persons Council and other leaders, endorse President Museveni as our sole candidate in the 2026 election. We pledge our total support to your candidacy and victory,” Acham said.
Mike Mukula, the NRM Regional Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, welcomed the elders’ decision to endorse President Museveni as the sole candidate.
Mukula said President Museveni is the right Candidate for NRM in the coming elections and he is still very strong to lead Uganda.
Vice President Jessica Alupo said as the people and leaders of Teso sub region, they have endorsed President Museveni as their sole candidate in 2026.
“Your Excellency, all of us here have endorsed you as the NRM Sole candidate in the coming elections,” VP said.
The elders also reaffirmed their commitment to continue engaging in the four-acre model being promoted by President Museveni.
President Museveni is currently touring the Teso sub region to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model program and wealth creation activities.
On Monday, President Museveni toured a model farm in the Serere and Kapyelebyong and Katakwi districts.
