The leaders and people of Karamoja have demonstrated unity, strong leadership, and a genuine enthusiasm for development and socio-economic transformation.

The EASF, which was established in 2007 and reached full operational capability in December 2015, is the product of several factors that have defined regional integration in the field of peace and security in Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa, including long-standing and continuing tensions between countries of the region and the threats to peace and security with internal wars, environmental degradation, terrorism, and unconstitutional changes of government notwithstanding. 

Despite the challenges the country has encountered, the commission has always had full support from all stakeholders towards achieving effective participation by Ugandans in the previous elections and by-elections.

"The UPDF has greatly benefited from the training support provided by the Global Security Service Group, and we are grateful for this fruitful partnership," Maj Gen Bakasumba said.

"Part of the problem with Africans is that they look at the Army as a job. The Army is not a job; it’s an obligation to defend your country. When you are defending your country, it’s not a job. Don’t bring careerism in the Army. You have an obligation to defend the country."
