According to Mukula, Uganda believes in the free and orderly movement of people, goods, services, and capital within the framework of regional laws and protocols, stating that it will continue to stand for the dignity of African brothers and sisters because Africa belongs to Africans.

The PFF leader expressed dissatisfaction with how Justice Emmanuel Baguma is handling the treason case, alleging judicial bias and prolonged detention without timely bail consideration. He further claimed that the evidence being presented by state witnesses against Besigye is fabricated, describing it as a product of a "pseudo-military operation" allegedly launched by the state with the intention of keeping Besigye in prison for life.

Recently, PFF declared weekly days, including every Wednesday, for Ugandans to wear national flag colours as an act that demonstrates their salient and peaceful demand for the release of Besigye, Lukwago and other alleged political prisoners, but the move has since faced hurdles, citing poor mobilisation and lack of resources to provide T-shirts.

However, the prison authorities have since revealed that the duo can still be treated in Uganda, stating that their current health state does not require specialized treatment from abroad, as alleged by the party leaders. Nevertheless, Kamara insisted that the High Court should release their leaders on bail and get the required medical attention.

The investigation has also uncovered meetings that were allegedly scheduled in Germany, which detectives believe were intended to buy time while reinforcing the impression that the transaction was genuine.

“Despite global condemnation, Baguma claims he is "not aware" that our leaders were illegally abducted from Nairobi, Kenya. He claims he "doesn't know" that they were first dragged to a military court-martial before being dumped into civil courts. How can a High Court judge be this blind to blatant transnational repression?” The statement read in part.

Uganda will co-host the 2027 tournament with Kenya and Tanzania under the East African "Pamoja" bid, the first time AFCON will be staged in the region.

“To ensure that our leaders are completely isolated from robust legal representation, the state has denied entry to our international lead counsel, Senior Counsel Martha Karua, at Entebbe International Airport. By blocking an international jurist, the regime has signaled its absolute contempt for international legal standards and regional protocols,” the statement read in part.
