Nabakooba also warned that climate change must increasingly shape decisions on where and how cities are developed, citing floods, extreme heat, drought and water scarcity as growing threats to property and infrastructure.

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the Catholic Church’s major celebrations and honours the belief that the Virgin Mary was assumed into heaven at the end of her earthly life.

“The housing mortgages available today are affordable for senior government officials and people with established businesses. We now want to plan for low-income earners like boda boda riders, market vendors and those starting from scratch,” Nabakooba said.

“Real estate and the law must work hand in hand. Building on a solid legal foundation is what allows investment to prosper and the sector to grow,” Nabakooba noted.

She announced that a multi-agency committee comprising officials from the Ministry of Lands, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Inspectorate of Government will investigate the dispute.
