On May 15, 2024, in Namulanda B Zone, Kajjansi Town Council in Wakiso district, six South Sudanese siblings and two women died in a house fire, and according to preliminary reports, the fire originated from an electronic kettle connected to a socket and was left in the sitting room unattended.
The first incident was reported around midnight at Kakungulu Memorial School in Kibuli, Makindye division, where the fire broke out in the dormitories housing over 50 students, while in the second incident, a fire outbreak occurred at the Entebbe municipality headquarters.
