The NUP second cohort is open for all members, and applications are still ongoing. Among the students who were awarded certificates, the majority were female and were in three categories: foot soldiers, professionals, and community leaders.
President Museveni has directed the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to stop charging fees from travelers except tourists who are transiting through the Murchison Falls National Park to connect to and from Northern Uganda.
“We are providing alternative routes for travelers moving through Murchison Falls National Park; visitors entering via the Masindi-Kichumbanyobo gate will now be directed to use the Bugungu gate in Buliisa, exiting through Tangi."
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has erected a second ferry at Masindi port to draw a transport ease to the northern region following a planned closure of Karuma Bridge.
In April 2024, Karuma Bridge was temporarily closed to heavy vehicles after an assessment established defects on its structures. The government has since contracted National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and China Seventh Railway Group to repair the defects.
