The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Anita Among, has rescinded her earlier decision to suspend plenary sittings until next week and has now called Members of Parliament for a special sitting on Thursday, July 25, 2024, to pay tribute to former Moroto Municipality MP, Simon Peter Aleper.
The sudden adjournment comes just hours before a scheduled plenary sitting at 2:00 pm, where the House was set to consider the Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill 2023 as the top item on the agenda.
The team will hand in the notice calling next week, and the Speaker should not to wait for the 14 days to elapse because Ugandans are so exhausted with the corruption at Parliament and have thus run out of patience to wait for that long.
