The State Minister for Higher Education and Member of Parliament Bamunanika County, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, in partnership with Luwero District Local Council has embarked on the rehabilitation of rural feeder roads connecting to the main government roads.
The Personal Assistant to Minister Muyingo in Bamunanika Constituency, Abdul Karin Waswa while officiating the launching of the Mulaje Parish roads on Friday, July 7, 2023, encouraged communities to utilize the roads to fight poverty and increase on their house hold incomes.
“I request residents of Mulaje, Naluweta, Kikabya to put the roads into good use. This means transporting merchandise to markets, which money will improve your standards of living,” Waswa said.
He added that the Minister is committed to support various sectors in the area and district at large. However, he cautioned residents against politicizing government programs.
According to the LCIII Chairperson of Bamunanika Sub-County, Steven Sembiide, the roads to be constructed include Mulayigye, Kikabya, Naluweta, Kalwe, Malungu, Eliada and Buwanika roads.
The communities thanked the minister for improving their livelihoods. One local said that the poor road network has been a bother to them because it caused delays in transporting their agricultural products which is going to change, courtesy of the Minister.
“I am so happy, and I feel this initiative is a great idea that is going to develop our community,” LCI Chairman Naluweta village said.
The Launch was blessed by the Parish Priest of Mulaje, Rev. Gerald Wamala.
The construction works of the 20km roads especially in Bamunanika Constituency are funded by Minister Dr. Muyingo, who contributed Shs 10million, on top of Luweero District’s offer for equipment.
