The National Volleyball Junior Championship finals which were hosted by the Western region on June 11, 2023, saw most of the Junior Volleyball teams from across Uganda bow for St. Kizito Seminary as it carried the Under 12 category Trophy.
The little-known Primary School from Mbarara, Rwebishuri-Kashaari fielded young stars that out smarted their opponents from Sunrise Volley ball Club, Wakiso by beating them 2 Nil in the best of 3 game from Nyakayojo grounds School where the competitions were held.
According to the National Volley Ball Junior Championship officials, St. Kizito played an impressive game with professional and entertaining tactics that depicted preparedness and passion for the game on the side of the junior players.
The Rector of St. Kizito Seminary, Fr. Paul Kulger said that, it was not an easy game for the boys to play against a well established and well facilitated opponents of Sunrise Volley ball club at the finals, who had travelled from Kampala with assurance that they would win.
“It was a tough encounter but we had better technical knowledge and training. Through Resilience and determination, the boys were able to have clean wins,” said Fr. Kulger.
St. Kizito won the first round with a whopping score of 25 points to 11 points and the second round with 25 Points to 14 denying their opponents Sunrise Junior Volley Ball Club, a chance to play the third round of the game and giving them the hands to lift the prestigious National trophy of the National Volley ball Junior Championship.
The Junior Championship Competitions were organized by Uganda Volleyball Federation, the Supreme governing body of volleyball in Uganda, in preparation for the Uganda Secondary School’s Association games. The competition this time included categories of Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16.
About St. Kizito Seminary
The Preparatory Seminary is a Primary School owned and founded by Mbarara Arch Diocese which started in 2013, with Fr. Pastori Mujuni as the Founding Head Teacher. The school is located in Rwebishuri-Kashaari, Mbarara City.
The Junior Seminary is currently under the Stewardship of Fr. Paul Kulger as the Rector, and it has over the years set outstanding sports and academic excellence with the most recent P.L.E results being over 99 Percent.
