The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda also the Member of Parliament for Kira Municipality has accused Police of conspiring with the goons who humiliated their supporters at Katonga on September 19, 2023, when they held the National Delegates Conference which resulted in the suspension of the current FDC President, Patrick Oboi Amuriat and the Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi.

He made the accusations during the press conference held at the Katonga Road party offices in Kampala on Monday, September 25, 2023.

“FDC leaders from Busia District were badly battered by the hired criminals in full view of the police at Busabala. The country needs to know that our leaders including Kasi, John Kaseera, Mande Felix, Hassan Opio, and Christopher Wejuli were beaten at Busabala when police commanded by the Kawempe Division Police Commander, SP David Kamugira were looking on, and in fact cheering,” Ssemuju said.

According to Ssemuju, the victims were treated at UMC Victoria Hospital in Bukoto and returned to Busia where they are still receiving treatment.

“We ask police since they know and work with these criminals, to return their belongings including phones, money, and National Identification cards that were snatched from them. Protecting life and property is the reason the country spends on you Police a whole shillings one trillion every year,” he said.

He revealed that, the goons were collected from Ndeeba, Katwe, Mulago, and Kisenyi, and their mission which they were paid each hundred thousand for commanders and fifty thousand shillings for the squad members was to hunt down, harm, or even kill the delegates.

FDC Spokesperson said, that the gang was commanded by among others Farooq Minawa, Juma Akankwasa, Moses Matovu Saawa, Muhammad Kiryowa, Zubair Dinja, Abudul Mattu, Jackson Ssemwanga, Ali Muzei Medi Musisi Kavuma, Baker and Godfrey Ssembusi.

“We have been reliably informed that these criminal gangs work with the Police Directorate of Crime Intelligence headed by AIGP Brigadier Christopher Ddamulira,” Ssemuju said.

However, our efforts to contact SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, to comment on Ssemuju’s accusations were in vain after he failed to pick up our calls.

The FDC party is currently divided into two factions with one faction led by Amauriat and Nandala while the other group is led by the former party President, Dr. Kizza Besigye, Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
