Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, a Member of Parliament for Kira Municipality and a Spokesperson of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has accused Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the party Secretary General for collaborating with the Deputy Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Katsigazi Tumusiime and hiring goons (Kifeesi) to disrupt the delegates gathering.

“The Extraordinary Delegates Conference was supposed to be held at Busabala, but unfortunately, the police blocked roads to the venue and has surrounded Katonga offices,” Ssemujju said.

Ssemujju while speaking on the way forward for FDC on NTV on Tuesday morning, September 19, 2023, said that, alternative means of accessing Busabala are under way or finding an alternative venue is being looked into, because delegates started arriving on Monday, September 18, 2023.

“FDC members are determined to rescue their party. We raised money as FDC Members, locally and those in the Diaspora to bring the Extraordinary Delegates Conference in Kampala,” Ssemujju said.

Ssemujju added that, he was among the people who contributed to the Extraordinary Delegates Conference to cater for meals and facilitating their transport and accommodation.

“Members independently raised these funds as Nandala indicated that, the party would not provide financial support for this endeavor,” Ssemujju said.

He emphasized that, it’s widely understood that the Extraordinary Delegates Conference has been summoned by the FDC in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The FDC has two factions, Najjanakumbi and Katonga, and they have each called for the Extraordinary Delegates Conference, with both faction claiming they are operating in accordance with the party’s constitution, accusing each other of holding unlawful conference.
