The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has called on investors in Uganda to prioritize the welfare and fair remuneration of their employees instead of focusing solely on profit margins.

Speaking during an engagement with workers and proprietors of Victoria Group of Companies in Njeru, Buikwe District, on Thursday, 30th October, 2025, Speaker Among emphasized that sustainable business growth depends on valuing and empowering workers.

“Employers must always remember that their success is built on the effort and dedication of their workers. Fair pay and good working conditions are not expenses, they are investments in productivity and stability,” she said.

Among commended the Victoria Group for its substantial contribution to Uganda’s economic development through local manufacturing and job creation.

The company employs over 1,000 Ugandans and produces a range of essential construction materials and household products used across the country.

She further praised the company’s decision to invest in Uganda, noting that such confidence reflects the peace and stability the country continues to enjoy under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“The decision by Victoria Group to invest in Uganda is a testament to the peace and stability this country enjoys, which provides a conducive environment for businesses to thrive,” the speaker of Parliament stated, adding that the government remains committed to supporting and protecting investors.

The Speaker also thanked the workers for their support to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections, noting that the NRM government’s top priority remains the creation of decent jobs and the improvement of household incomes.

“The NRM government continues to place employment creation at the center of its agenda because every job created improves a family’s livelihood and strengthens our economy,” Among added.

The engagement at Victoria Group highlighted the government’s partnership with the private sector in driving industrial growth, expanding employment opportunities, and ensuring fair labour practices.

With Uganda positioning itself as a manufacturing and investment hub in the region, Speaker Among’s message served as a reminder that inclusive growth, where workers benefit alongside investors remains vital to achieving long-term economic sustainability.
