Speaker Among Pledges Support for Innovative Youth Group

The Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, has expressed her admiration and support for a group of young innovators from the Rokoba Group in the Lower Madi constituency.

The group, accompanied by their Member of Parliament, Ronald Afidra, met with the Speaker at Parliament on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Among, announced this on her social media handle X, stating that she is impressed by the group’s capacity to turn garbage into useful items.

“This group is making a significant impact by turning old tires and plastics into shoes, sandals, carpets, and other useful items,” Among noted.

She emphasized the importance of supporting such initiatives, which not only contribute to environmental conservation but also create employment opportunities for young people.

The Speaker, on behalf of Parliament, pledged continued support through budgetary allocations.

“I pledged our continued support through budgetary allocations aimed at skilling and empowering the youth to help them realize their potential and contribute to our nation’s development,’’ she said.

The Speaker’s recognition and support for the Rokoba Group highlight the growing importance of youth innovation and entrepreneurship in Uganda.
