Two students from Midland High School in Kaberamaido district have died on the spot, and several others sustained severe injuries after a bus belonging to Busitema University in which they were traveling rammed into a stationed trailor.

A preliminary report from police indicated that the incident took place at Television Soroti, along the Mbale-Soroti highway, at around 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 , a few metres near Awoja Primary School along the Mbale-Soroti Highway.

The students who sustained severe injuries were rushed to Soroti Referral Hospital for treatment.

John Baptist Ekou, the school head teacher, said the students were travelling to Jinja for geography field study when the accident happened in Awoja, Aukot sub-county, Soroti District.
