The National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat has so far issued nomination forms to a total of six people who have expressed interest to contest in the party primary elections ahead of the forthcoming Oyam North by-election.
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, the NRM secretariat issued nomination forms to Queen Dorothy Amolo, the US-based Ugandan investor.
Amb. Julius Peter Moto, Augustine Obangakene, Willy Omodo Omodo, Samuel Okello, and Daniel Bala were previously issued with the nomination forms by the secretariat.
Shortly after picking forms, Amolo told Nexus media about her manifestos, which she intends to implement with the people of Oyam North County in Oyam District once elected to replace the fallen Minister Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola Macodwogo, whom she had been closely working with in various wealth creation programs.
“I want to continue educating the many children (students) that the late Minister was sponsoring at different education levels. Our wealth creation programs, supported by many investors in the US, must also be escalated and effectively handled to empower our local people in Oyam,” said Amolo.
Top on her agenda, Amolo intends to deliver modernized tools for agricultural innovations and create a large market for farm produce, including by empowering farmers with proper post-harvesting methods to fetch higher prices.
According to Amolo, she will focus on small-scale industrialization to spur production of commodities and create large markets for local raw materials, establishing factories for canned foods and vegetables.
She expressed large concerns about the empowerment of women, child mothers, and other vulnerable communities that should be economically supported.
Through her international networks, Amolo has vowed to lobby for development partners to support the establishment of clean water sources, education, health, and agriculture.
According to secretariat, the forms must be returned no later than May 29th. The Oyam North by-election is slated for July 6, 2023, according to the electoral commission.
