Security has kicked off an investigation into the double murder by shooting that occurred at Buddo junction, Nakasozi cell, and Nabbingo ward in Kyengera town council in Wakiso district.

According to a report obtained from security, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at around 8 p.m., a boda boda rider whose names were not captured reported that there had been a shooting incident.

“The area police at Buddo Junior police post responded to the scene and confirmed the incident. Two bodies were laying dead, one for a female adult lying on tarmac and the other for a male adult in the motor vehicle UAK 375U,” reads a brief report.

BRIEF FACTS

According to investigators, on the 23rd day of July 2024, at about 16:00 hours, Brigadier CK Asiimwe, an attachee to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and a resident of Seguku Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District, sent his driver, RA 217785 CPL Daniel Okiror, and Ian, his brother, to Kasese on a yet-to-be known mission-driving motor vehicle, UBL 990X Mark X.

The duo reached Jibuti safely, and on their way back, they picked a female relative of the Ambassador to Jibuti, Kalumina Richard.

The source revealed that when they reached around Mpigi, they were blocked by a motor vehicle, Registration UAK 375U Progress, silver grey in color, with four occupants dressed in military attire and armed with a pistol.

The group immediately ordered them to disembark from their motor vehicle, the UBL 990X, and board the UAK 375U.

“They accepted to enter the car, knowing that they were the same and may have committed a mistake, but they became suspicious when two remained in their vehicle and were whisked away by officers they didn’t know,” said the report.

According to the source, along the way, CPL Okiror disarmed his pistol, No. UG 45306157 JERRICO, with 15 rounds of ammunition. Thereafter, the alleged kidnappers started communicating to someone that they had arrested these people, and they were delivering them to the one who sent them.

From this point, Ian and CPL Okiror realized that their lives were in danger. Ian asked to go for a short call and, in the process, managed to escape, leaving CPL Okiror in the vehicle of the assailants.

CPL Okiror Daniel started texting his boss, CK Asiimwe, that he had been abducted and gave all the details of the motor vehicle he was in. CK Assimwe submitted the telephone number of his driver, CPL Okiror Daniel, to CMI for location.

Upon reaching Buddo Junction, CPL Okiror Daniel disarmed the assailants with his pistol and shot the driver dead, and the core driver managed to escape.

In the process, a stray bullet caught a female pedestrian by the name of Evelyn Nalumanzi Zallia Kironde Katende, a female adult, aged 50, a resident of Nakasozi cell, Nabbingo ward, Kyengera town council, Wakiso district, who also died on the spot.

The crime scene was visited by DPC, CI, OC CID, SOCO, and a team of detectives, and a motor vehicle (UAK 375U) suspected to be used by the assailants was recovered and exhibited.
