A suspected ADF terrorist has been killed in a joint security operation that was carried out by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and police at Imanyi Police Station.
The occurrences happened at around 10:00 p.m. on May 28, 2024, in Kambale village, Imanyi Sub County, Mityana district.
According to locals, the suspect had just relocated to Kambale village about two months ago; however, no one knew anything about him or where he came from. They added that when the operatives came to their village, gunshots were exchanged between the operatives and the suspect.
’’We are really scared and shocked because it is bizarre and strange that one of the residents in our village had a gun and was an ADF terrorist,’’ the locals revealed.
While being interviewed by journalists on May 29, 2024, Joseph Lukoda, the Local Council I Chairperson of Kambale village, revealed that he did not know anything about the ADF suspect that was killed by the security operatives, adding that he knew the suspect as a tomato grower in Kambale village who was living in one of the rental houses belonging to one Kayinja.
Lukoda added that the suspect came to the village with a son aged between 9 and 10 years, who was taken by the security operatives.
He also revealed that the UPDF soldiers went to the Imanyi Police Station first to let them know about their operation, and then they accompanied them to where the ADF suspect was staying.
The body of the suspect was taken by the police, and investigations are underway.
