The Sustainable Development Goals national secretariat (SDGs), in conjunction with the Office of the Prime Minister, are set to hold the first Kampala People’s festival

Dr. Albert Byamugisha, the Head of the SDGS Secretariat in the OPM, on Tuesday August 8, 2023 said the festival will be hosted under the theme “Harnessing Citizens’ Potential: Fostering Ownership, Expression, Enjoyment, and Innovation for SDGs”.

He says the event slated for August 10th and 11th, 2023, will be held at the KCCA Grounds in Lugogo with the aim of igniting a wave of collective action towards achieving the SDGs.

Dr. Byamugisha said that with the 2030 Agenda edging closer and only seven years left to meet its ambitious targets, the festival carries the crucial role of propelling Uganda’s progress towards the SDGs.

He said the festival’s overarching goal is to cultivate awareness and catalyze the localization of the SDGs within Uganda.

The festival will bring together both government and UN agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector, including religious, media, innovators, students, filmmakers, entertainers, media, and cultural institutions, among others.
