Police in Fort Portal City have arrested a School patron over an allegation of aggravated defilement and sodomy of pupils under his care.

SCP Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, identified the suspect as Joash Ssali, aged 37, a patron at Kasisi Day and Boarding Primary School in Fort Portal.

Enanga said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from his hideout in Bugongi village in Sheema district.

“The suspect was reported on June 12, 2023, for alleged aggravated defilement and sodomy of three male pupils in the boarding section,” said Enanga.

According to SCP Enanga, a police medical examination established that one of the pupils had a ruptured anus, which proved penetration, and the other two victims were found to be negative.

The police have condemned in strong terms all forms of sexual violence in schools and promised to ensure the school patron is held accountable for his crimes of child sexual abuse.
