Rwanda Hosts EAC Command Post Exercise “USHIRIKIANO IMARA’

The Ugandan contingent headed by Brig. Gen Stephen .T Kashure who doubles as the Chief Evaluator of the Command Post Exercise (CPX), have arrived in Rwanda ahead of the East African Community (EAC) 13th Armed Forces Command Post Exercise (CPX) “USHIRIKIANO IMARA” scheduled for two weeks from June 13-26, 2023, at Musanze-Rwanda.

On arrival, the Contingent was received by both the Uganda Defense Advisor (DA) to Rwanda Brig. Gen Dr. Emmanuel .T Shiilingi and Col. Jean Chrysostom Ngendahimana, Ag. Deputy Commandant of Rwanda Defence Forces and staff College (RDFCSC) who is also the Exercise Evaluator.

According to Col. Stuart Agaba CPX Evaluator (Uganda), CPX is about practicing and improving EAC partner States’ Armed forces and key stake holders in response to complex security challenges.

“Uganda benefits in terms of security and promoting the EAC integration agenda and enhance its awareness, it also improves interoperability between the EAC partner states and stakeholders response to contemporary security challenges,” Col. Agaba said.

He revealed that all EAC partner states of Burundi, DRC, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda the host are expected to participate in CPX.

“Today 14th June 2023, is final reception of arriving partner states contingent, then tomorrow the 15th CPX starts  with preliminary induction, then from 18th to 23rd formal opening of CPX and CPX play, then on 26th June 23 is the official closing ceremony of  CPX,” said Col. Agaba.

The Ugandan contingent comprises of participants from the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), Uganda Police Force (UPF), Uganda Prisons Service (UPS), and Civilian Component.
