The Uganda Lady Crane Rugby team has secured two wins in the opening games against Tunisia and the host nation, Ghana, at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
The two matches took place on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium.
Uganda defeated Tunisia in the opening match, dominating the first quarter with two tries from Grace Nabaggala and Lydia Namabiro.
Tunisia scored their try just before halftime, making the score 10:7 in favor of Uganda.
Uganda extended their lead in the second half, with Peace Lekuru, Ritta Nadunga, Grace Nabaggala, and Maimuna Nassozi scoring five tries, with Nassozi converting only one.
The match ended at 37:07 points.
In the second game, Uganda defeated the host country, Ghana, by 50:07 at the same venue.
The Uganda Lady Cranes will play their next game on March 21, 2024.
In the men’s game, Uganda Rugby defeated Burkina Faso 24:14 in their third match. The team secured two wins in their first two games played against Zimbabwe and Tunisia.
