The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is set to recognize individuals, business associations, community groups, cooperatives, private companies, and government agencies that have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the private sector in Uganda.

This was confirmed during a media presser held at their head offices in Nakasero on November 1, 2023.

PSFU announced that there will be seven categories to be recognized, and these include the Business Association of the Year, the Private Sector Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Champion of the Year, the Community Development Champion, the Woman Organization of the Year, the Youth Organization of the Year, the Private Sector Media Personality of the Year, and the Government Agency of the Year.

According to Francis Kisirinya, the Chief Membership Officer, nominations for the awards are now open until November 3, 2023.

“The upcoming awards are going to be the 8th edition conducted by PSFU and will be held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on December 6, 2023. Forms can be found online on the PSFU website and can be submitted both online and physically at the PSFU Headquarters,” Kisirinya said.

“We call upon organizations of all types and companies that believe they deserve to be recognized for their contributions to the private sector to submit entries for these awards,” Kisirinya added.

Grace Nshemeire-Gwaku, the Chief Operating Officer at PFSU, said that PSFU intends to open markets for Ugandan products to outside markets so that Ugandans can also trade fairly outside Uganda.

“We want the nominees and award winners to share their experiences and best practices with other members of the community for healthy competition,” Nshemeire added.

She added that PSFU has a transparent panel that will be objective and independent to make sure the whole process is fairly evaluated.

The prestigious event will bring together leaders from government, the private sector, civil society, and the media fraternity to celebrate the achievements of the Ugandan private sector.

The chief guest will be the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mathia Kasaija.
