PSFU to Mentor Young People in Business

The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is set to begin a business mentorship program where selected young people will be mentored in different sectors of business across the country to expand their entrepreneurial skills and strengthen the private sector.

While addressing the press on November 5, 2024, at the PSFU offices in Nakasero, Kampala, the Chief Executive Officer at PSFU, Stephen Asiimwe, said that the one-day business mentorship conference will be a launch of the mentorship program where many young people will be mentored in different business sectors and how to make business.

“On the 5th of December, we shall have a business mentoring conference at Kampala Serena Hotel for young people, and this will be largely to inspire young people on how to make business, and we shall have a series of talks, and also young people will have interactions, mentoring, testimonies, and one-on-one conversations with top Ugandan business owners,” he said.

Asiimwe also hinted at the different partners who will be part of the launch and how the business mentorship is to connect aspiring businessmen to different stakeholders and top business moguls in different sectors.

“We are going to invite top successful businessmen and CEOs from different sectors like tourism, media, sports, manufacturing, banking, insurance, and so many other sectors, and our young people will be able to freely interact and ask any questions to these mentors,” Asiimwe added.

According to Francis Kisirinya, the Chief Membership Officer at PSFU, the mentorship program will also be available for those who want to join online, advising anyone interested to visit the PSFU website and apply. After the launch, PSFU will take the mentorship program to the different parts of the country.

“We can’t have all young people in one place for mentorship, but we intend to have these mentorships extended at regional and district levels so that we can have many young people benefiting from these programs,” Kisirinya said.

Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is Uganda’s apex body for the private sector, made up of 300 business associations, corporate bodies, and the major public sector agencies that support private sector growth. PSFU has served as a focal point for private sector advocacy as well as capacity building and continues to sustain a positive dialogue with government on behalf of the private sector.

PSFU is the government’s implementation partner for several projects and programs aimed at strengthening the private sector as an engine of economic growth in Uganda.
