President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will officially launch the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) 2026-2031 manifesto today, Monday, September 29, 2025, at the prestigious Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

This event comes shortly after Museveni’s official nomination as the NRM presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections, marking a significant step in the party’s campaign process and Museveni’s pursuit of a seventh term as Uganda’s president.

The launch, expected to gather Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, party leaders, and representatives from various sectors, will unveil the manifesto under the theme “Protecting the Gains.”

According to Emmanuel Dombo the director for communication (NRM) , the manifesto is expected to capture NRM’s vision for consolidating past achievements while charting a path for Uganda’ s future which will serve as the central document guiding campaigns a head of the highly anticipated polls.

The manifesto outlines six core commitments for the next five years: consolidating peace and security, accelerating wealth creation and job opportunities through agriculture, industrialization, services, and ICT, infrastructure development including roads and energy, social services transformation with investments in education and healthcare, enhancing good governance with an anti-corruption drive, and promoting regional and international integration to boost trade and investments.

Following the manifesto launch, Museveni’s campaign for the 2026 election officially begins with a rally scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at Bukalasa playgrounds in Luweero, followed by a series of campaign stops in northern Uganda.

The 2026 presidential election race is officially underway, with Museveni and five other candidates, including prominent opposition leaders such as Bobi Wine and Nandala Mafabi, formally nominated to contest.

The Electoral Commission (EC) continues to call for peaceful, transparent elections, as Uganda prepares for a critical vote on January 12, 2026, that will shape its future political and socio-economic trajectory.
