President Museveni Tasks Youth to Join Anti-Poverty War, Pledges Gov’t Commitment

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has tasked the youth in Teso sub region to join the war against poverty and become job creators.

While launching the Teso Industrial Zonal Hub in Arapai ward, Soroti City West Division, on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, President Museveni noted that youth skilling initiatives were established to enable young people to create jobs.

The president said youths skilled from the Hub will forever remain empowered people and can successfully create wealth for themselves and support the community.

Jane Barekye, the State House Controller, said the Hub is currently training a total of 241 young people drawn from the entire Teso region.

She said they are being trained in metal fabrication, bakery, building and constructions, tailoring, leather and shoe making, carpentry, and joinery, among others.

President Museveni is currently touring the region to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and wealth creation activities.

Both Vice President Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, ministers and other local leaders from he region attended the event.
