President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Uganda Cranes for securing their qualification for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is slated to take place in Morocco.

President Museveni, who jotted down on his X handle on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, praised the players, coaches, the federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), and the Ministry of Education and Sports for the dedication and zeal that led to this achievement.

“I congratulate the players, coaches, FUFA, the Ministry of Education and Sports, and all fellow Ugandans,” he tweeted.

The President also emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of sports in Uganda, highlighting the investments made in building and rehabilitating sports infrastructure across the country.

“The government has already committed a lot of resources to construct and rehabilitate the sports infrastructure, and we will continue to do so,” he added.

Some of the sports infrastructure that the government committed to rehabilitate includes, but is not limited to, Akibua Stadium in Lira district, Namboole Stadium, and Hoima Stadium.
