President Museveni Offers Cash land and housing Support to Bududa Landslide Survivors

President Yoweri Museveni has visited the survivors of the recent landslides in Bududa, promising a comprehensive package of assistance to help them rebuild their lives.

During his visit to the Bunambutye Settlement Camp on December 18, 2024, the President announced a support package that includes UGX 10 million, 2 acres of land, and a house for each affected family. He expressed his commitment to helping the victims regain their footing after the disaster.

“We shall give UGX 10 million as financial support and start-up capital to help families regain economic stability, 2 acres of land for resettlement, and a house constructed for each affected household to ensure safe living,” President Museveni stated.

In addition to these commitments, the President has donated 20 cows from his farm in Ngoma to the survivors as a Christmas gift, aiming to provide a source of livelihood and hope during this challenging time.

Museveni’s visit in Bugisu Sub-region also included the commissioning of the Bugisu Zonal skilling hub in Lukhoge Village, Mbale District, focused on providing the community with essential skills for sustainable livelihoods. The president then had a meeting on wealth creation with leaders from the Bugisu Sub region at Nabbongo Secondary School in Bulambuli District.

The recent landslides Buluganya and Sooti subcounties of Bududa District have been devastating, affecting many families and resulting in the loss of more than 30 lives. President Museveni’s intervention aims to provide much-needed relief and long-term support to help the survivors rebuild their communities and lives.
