President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has mourned the fallen Kampala City bilionaire Apollo Nyegamahe, commonly known as Aponye, who passed away recently in a fatal motor accident on July 6th, 2023, along the Mbarara-Kabale highway in Itojo Town Council.

President Museveni, in his condolence message delivered on Friday evening from Kisozi State Lodge in Gomba district, described the late Aponye, also the NRM Chairman of Rukiga district, as an incredible economic actor.

“While here, I got the sad news of the death of Aponye, our big supporter and active economic actor. Condolences to his family and Ugandans in general. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the message read.

Aponye, 63, died instantly when his private motor vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser UBL 300Z, rammed into a parked Fuso UAZ 767D in Itojo on that fateful night.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Muhanga-Rukiga district.

His driver, Moses Buyinza, and his co-driver, Joshua Karamuzi, are currently admitted in the hospital.
