President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has recovered from the coronavirus after over 10 days of self-isolation at Nakasero State Lodge in Kampala.

The president, who tested positive for COVID-19 on June 7th, said on Sunday, June 18th, that he had recovered from the virus.

“On the war with Corona, it is now confirmed that I am a veteran graduate of the war with that enemy. Today, the samples showed that I had turned negative vis-à-vis corona. Even the samples from Wednesday last week showed a reduced presence of the virus parts. The glory goes to God,” said Mr. President.

While undergoing self-isolation, President Museveni kept a constant update and interaction with Ugandans on wealth creation strategies and urged for critical health, describing it as a strong tool to fight for Africa.

“This now leads me to my strategy on health, which is an instrument of the African struggle among many missions. I, again, strongly recommend to the NRM Cadres and militants and all Ugandans to avoid all the risk factors to health: alcohol, promiscuity, careless driving, avoiding malaria, smoking, exercising for fitness, eating healthy African food (maize, cassava, millet, bananas, fruits, milk, beef, chicken, fish, etc.), and ensuring that you get vaccinated against all the vaccinatable diseases and you have all the vitamins,” said the President.

He said there seems to be a problem with medical orientation where many doctors are not health officers but rather disease officers, spending more time treating sicknesses that are completely avoidable.

Dr. Diana Atwiine, a long-time personal doctor to President Museveni, confirmed that he is now fully recovered and free from the virus.

This was the first time President Museveni tested positive to COVID-19 ever since the pandemic was confirmed  by the World Health Organization.
