
The Uganda Police Force, through a series of intelligence-led operations, has arrested more than 40 suspects in connection with illegal possession, substance abuse, robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
In a statement issued by the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the operations were conducted between 29th and 31st October 2025, targeting areas identified as black spots for criminal activity.
He stated that on 29th October 2025, police conducted a community policing drive in Bulabira Kalitunsi, Najjera. The initiative focused on neighborhood watch, crime prevention, domestic violence, vigilance, and electoral offences.
During the engagement, residents were sensitized on how to cooperate with the police through timely information sharing and vigilance in their communities.
The following day, 30th October 2025, eight suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation following persistent reports of illegal possession and abuse of narcotic substances.
According Owoyesigyire, the arrests were conducted at 2:00 a.m. in areas under Wamala Police Post in Nansana Division, Wakiso District, specifically in Wamala Kasumba, Karanzi, Kinyarwanda, and Tabba sub-zones.
On 31st October 2025, another operation was carried out between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. in Thailand, Katogo, and Kago areas of Kinawataka, Mbuya Parish, Nakawa Division.
“Another intelligence-led disruptive operation was conducted in Thailand, Katogo, and Kago areas of Kinawataka, Mbuya Parish, Nakawa Division. Sixteen suspects were arrested from known criminal hideouts and charged with unlawful possession of suspected narcotic substances and public nuisance,” Owoyesigyire stated.
In addition, police in Old Kampala Division conducted two successful operations in Nakulabye and Kisenyi, targeting thugs involved in simple robberies and narcotic use.
Owoyesigyire explained that twenty-four suspects were arrested in each of the two operations, with several exhibits recovered, including suspected narcotic substances and dangerous weapons.
“The suspects are undergoing screening and will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations,” he said.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police leadership has commended the cooperation of the public and local leaders, whose active participation continues to support ongoing security operations.
“The public is encouraged to remain alert, share credible intelligence, and work closely with Police to ensure continued peace and security,” Owoyesigyire stated.
The Uganda Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to preventive and intelligence-led policing, emphasizing that such operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in narcotic abuse, robberies, and other unlawful activities across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
