Police have arrested a total of five suspected notorious thugs who have been terrorizing residents of Kazinga and Kyetume in Mukono district.

The group is believed to have been using pangas, knives, and iron bars to terrorize local residents.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, while speaking at the security presser on Monday , July 3rd, at police headquarters at Naguru, identified the suspects as Pius Ssali, Joseph Mutovu, Alex Kitabala Golala, and Timothy Ogong.

According to SCP Enanga, the group reportedly attacked Collie Muhumuza, 25, and his girlfriend, identified as Moreen Atuhaire, on June 16th while they were heading home at Kazingo.

“This group of thugs attacked him, stabbed him several times, and killed him but spared his girlfriend.  This same group last week waylaid pedestrians near Restoration Life Church in Mukono,” said Enanga.

Security further established that the same group attacked and robbed a businesswoman, 26-year-old Shanitah Nakalyago, and stole an unspecified amount of cash, phones, and other personal items.

Enanga said that as they were escaping from the scene, they also attacked Mbogo, 38, a peasant farmer, and stabbed him.

However, the canine team tracked them and led to the arrest of the suspects, who had been waylaying pedestrians along the areas of Kazinga, Kyetume, and Bukasa.

The suspects will be charged with three counts, including one of murder and two counts of attempted murder, because the other two victims were stabbed and are currently nursing wounds sustained from the attacks.
