Police Hunt for a Woman over Attempted Murder of Three children

Police in Kampala are hunting for a woman for allegedly attempting to murder three of her own children by burning and arson.

It is alleged that Jennifer Nambiru, a housewife and a resident of Upper Lake Side, Kiisugu parish, Makindye Division, Kampala, reportedly set her house ablaze after locking her own three children inside with the intention to kill them on August 13th, 2023, around 8 p.m.

ASP Luke Owoyesgire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said the hunt for the suspect is ongoing.

“The incident involves the attempted murder of three children by the suspect, identified as Jennifer Nambiru. A housewife, who is alleged to have set her household property on fire, locked the children aged 7, 6, and 2 years in the house with the intent to kill them,” said ASP Owoyesgire.

He said the trio was rescued by the neighbours, who were alerted by the disturbing ululation of the kids, adding that the fire was ably contained before it could spread to the neighbouring houses by the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services( FPRS) from Kabalagala Police Station.

Police preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had been involved in long-standing domestic violence issues with her husband, Moses Bululu.
