Police Launch Hunt on a Teacher over Aggravated Defilement

The territorial police in Kampala Metropolitan and Naggalama police division are hunting for a teacher who is currently on the run for defiling a 15-year-old primary pupil, which occurred on September 9, 2023, around 5pm at Kabawala village, Nabalanga parish in Nabbale sub-county, Mukono district.

In a Police statement released on September 12, 2023, SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson identified the suspect as Aron Nambasa, a teacher at Nabalanga Church of Uganda Primary School.

Enanga revealed that, at around 4pm, Nambasa found the victim attending to her brother’s shop located at Kabawala trading Centre and lured her to his home where he defiled her from.

“The facts gathered indicate that, the suspect ordered for passion fruit juice of Ugx 500 only, giving her Ugx 2000 and asked the victim to deliver the juice and his balance to his home. Upon her arrival at the home of the suspect, she was pulled into the house and sexually assaulted,” Enanga said.

Enanga noted that, the victim after the sexual act of violence went and narrated the whole ordeal to her elder brother, who reported the matter to the area Local Council Chairperson and Police.

Police has strongly condemned such acts of behavior by teachers and urged parents to train children, child resistance skills of being assertive and to always cry out for help.

Statistics from the Uganda Police Force Annual Crime Report of 2022, released on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, revealed that, a total of 12,580 cases of defilement were reported to Police in 2022, compared to 14,436 cases reported in 2021, representing a 12.8% decline.
