In an effort to increase security and enhance the quality of police services, the Masaka Regional Police has started keeping an eye on every police unit in each of the eight districts that make up the region through the tours being carried out.

SSP Ezra Tugume, the Deputy Regional Police Commander (RPC), Herbert Wanyoto, Regional Crime Intelligence Officer (CID), Emmanuel Ssempijja, Police Liaison Officer (PLO), and Moses Muloki, Police Standards Unit in the Masaka region, headed the team from the Masaka Regional Police headquarters.

Tuguma urged the police officers to be transparent, improve customer care, and write statements properly.

On Friday, March 8, 2024, the monitoring tour began, and it is still ongoing in other districts within the region.

According to Tugume, while in Kyotera, they also visited the recently built headquarters, where he asked the police officers to get ready to move in since the works were in the final stages.

At Rakai police headquarters, Thaha Kasirye, the Police Spokesperson for the Greater Masaka Region, said that the monitoring tour aims to promote the quality of service and image of police among the community.

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) is currently implementing the sub-county policing model to bring police services closer to the community.
