Police in Sheema district have in custody seven students of Nganwa High School, Kabwohe, for inciting violence.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said the students were arrested following violent clashes staged by S.4 students on October 9th at the school.

“It has been a tradition at the school, where S.4 students are beaten by students, to bid them farewell. This time around, the S.4 candidates organized themselves and attacked students from other classes, but it caused serious clashes within the school,” said SCP Enanga.

Police said the ring leaders were identified and arrested, including Nuwasharamu Propser, 18 years old (S. 4), Andinda Roden, 18 years old (S. 4), Nganzi Owen, 18 years old (S. 4), Kato Timothy, 18 years old (S. 4), Akandwanaho Allan, 19 years old (S. 4), Nuwasiima Saul, 17, and Matama Samuel.

“The student victims who were injured during the fights were rushed to Sheema Hospital for treatment. These include Aruho Benon, a 19-year-old, S.4 student, and Mustafa, a S.5 student,” said Enanga.
