Police in Old Kampala have arrested four suspects linked to numerous break-ins in Bulange village, Rubaga Sub-county, in Kampala.

According to initial reports, the thieves are believed to have stolen goods worth millions.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the leader of security in Bulange village, Vincent Mawejje, revealed that the thieves attacked the village around 3:00 AM during the heavy downpour and stole goods worth millions, including televisions, phones, and household items.

Mawejje further explained that the timely alert from concerned villagers led to the capture of the thieves, with four individuals apprehended while others managed to escape.

Vincent Mawejje expressed frustration over the increasing thefts in the area.

“Theft is rampant in this area, and most of the thieves come from outside Rubaga Sub-county,” Mawejje said. “They spent the whole night robbing houses, and we’ve arrested four so far. They stole bags of charcoal and sold them to a teacher who has also been arrested.”

One eyewitness who preferred to remain anonymous revealed that one of the arrested suspects was a security guard.

“One of the thieves is a security guard with the SWAT team company called Sheriff. He is also a personal bodyguard to Pastor Twaha,” she said.

This raised a lot of speculation from the villagers about the involvement of individuals in positions of trust.

The police then took the suspects to Old Kampala police station for further investigations.

Mawejje urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety of our community.
