Police Arrest 34 Members of Criminal Gang in Kampala Central

The territorial Police in Kampala have arrested 34 suspected members of the criminal gang that have been terrorising members of the public.

In a press release issued by ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, 34 individuals were arrested by the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala during an operation.

According to Owoyesigire, the criminals are part of criminal gang operating in the Central Business District.

“The territorial Police at Central Police Station has today July 25th, 2023, conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of 34 individuals suspected of being part of criminal gangs operating in the Central Business District,” Owoyesigire said.

“The gangs have been involved in various activities including vandalizing of both parked and moving vehicles, snatching of phones, pick-pocketing and other offences,” he added.

Owoyesigire stated that, the culprits are currently being held at CPS for further investigations.

According to Owoyesigire, there is an ongoing operation and the public will be informed on its progress in due course.
