The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has appointed former Tororo Municipality legislator Sanjay Tanna as the Eastern Region Campaign Coordinator for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 presidential campaign, signaling a fresh push to consolidate support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Eastern Uganda.

The appointment, announced by Michael Nuwagira Kaguta (Toyota), the PLU’s National Vice Chairman was confirmed in an official letter dated 21st October 2025 and addressed to NRM Secretary General, Hon. Richard Todwong.

According to the communication, the PLU leadership has entrusted Tanna with coordinating all the organization’s mobilization and campaign activities in the Eastern Region, under a cooperative framework agreed between the NRM and PLU secretariats.

Sources indicate that the decision followed a high-level stakeholders meeting between the two entities, where both sides agreed to harmonize campaign strategies to secure a decisive victory for President Museveni in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.

Under Tanna, are sub region coordinators; Samuel Nabeta for Busoga, Kinobere Herbert for Bukedi, Fadhil Twaha (Kapchorwa), Hon Peter Ogwang (Teso), and Woboya Vincent (Bugisu).

This team is purposed to re-enforce the NRM Secretariat’s efforts of mobilizing votes for President Museveni under the code name, “Tuko Pamoja.”

Sanjay Tanna, a renowned Vote hunter for the NRM Party Flag bearers now heads this formidable team that aims to garner a landslide victory for President Museveni in the 2026 general polls.

In 2021 general elections, Tanna coordinated the Presidential Task Force in the Bukedi Sebei, and Bugisu sub regions that was headed by Al Hajji Moses Kigongo.

That Presidential Task Force is largely credited for the votes NRM garnered in these regions after an initial onslaught of Bobi Wine’s NUP.

It is also a reflection of a huge vote of confidence on Tanna who has relentlessly mobilized for the Party flag bearers especially in the Eastern part of Uganda.
