Pay all Road Penalties within 28 Days or Risk Extra Charge-Police

The Uganda Police has reminded all road users with road penalties to clear within 28 days or be charged an extra pay of 50% for late payments.

ASP Michael Kananura, the Police Traffic Spokesperson, while speaking during the weekly security brief on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Police headquarters in Naguru, reminded all defaulters to clear all their penalties before a strong measure is taken on them.

“All road users that have been given penalties by police are asked to clear within 28 days, beyond this period, they will be required to pay an extra charge of 50%,” Kananura said.

Kananura said that, operations targeting boba-boda riders without safety gears (helmets and reflector jackets), permits, and carrying more than two passengers are ongoing across the country.

He added by calling upon all members of the public to help the Traffic Police in fighting the indiscipline cases on the road.

Police advised road users to observe speed limits and traffic rules, in order to control or curb down on the increasing road accidents which sometimes result into deaths.
