After diligent preparations by the organizers of the “Love Fest” concert, fans of musician Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso, the self-proclaimed king of the East, were ready to access Lugogo Cricket Oval grounds in Kampala and enjoy the experience of his live performance.

As always, Ugandans never disappoint when it comes to living life to the fullest. By 8 p.m, most of the fans were already packed at the venue, waiting to have a run for their money, and by the time Pallaso came on stage, the grounds were filled to capacity.

Despite the fact that most Ugandans are crying about the economy and struggling to make ends meet financially, they managed to “cough” the entrance fee and secure for themselves tickets, which ranged from 20.000 shillings for general access, 50.000 shillings for VIP access, and 3 million shillings for a table reservation.

Notable musicians who turned up to show their solidarity to Pallaso included Nigerian singer Onyido Nkemjika, alias Ketchup, and Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza, alias Eddy Kenzo, an award winner of the Best Male Artist of East/South/North Africa in the African Entertainment Awards, USA (AEAUSA), in December 2022.

Kenzo sang several of his songs amidst cheers from the crowd and thanked the fans for the support they showed Pallaso.

Kenzo requested that musicians not be involved in politics. “Okuyimba kubbe kuyimba nebyobufuzi bisigale eyyo,” he stressed, meaning that they should not mix music with politics.

The fans turned up in large numbers to show their love for the youngest Mayanja musician, who in turn gave them an unforgettable show. Among the songs he sang were Binyuma, Bega Bega, Guwe Nze, and the Fire Anthem, among others.

Oscar Mugabe, one of Pallaso’s fans, said that the show was one of its kind and that Uganda has got big talent because of how Pallaso and other curtain raisers performed.

“I did not expect less from Pallaso. He has indeed shown that Uganda has a lot of talent. I am glad to have enjoyed the money I paid for entrance,” said Oscar Mugabe.

Pallaso called upon his brother Douglas Mayanja, alias Weasel, to join him on stage and urged fans to never cease their support for Radio and Weasel’s music.

“Never stop supporting Radio and Weasel’s music,” Pallaso implored.

In respect and paying tribute to Radio, Pallaso and Weasel then sang “Amasso,” a song he previously sang with the late Radio and Weasel.

The Mayanja boys thanked their mother, Proscovia Musoke Mayanja, whom they hold in high regard. Pallaso also thanked his fans for the love they showed him.

The show ended after midnight, and the fans seemed to want more of his music. Pallaso was able to pull crowds and fill up the Lugogo Cricket Oval grounds.

Pallaso will be having his music tour in Mbarara at Agip Motel on June 10, 2023; Fort Portal Stadium on June 11; Luwero mukisawe on June 16; Jinja Trance Gardens on June 17; and Mubende mukisawe on June 18, 2023.
