Over 400 Anglican pilgrims from Nebbi Diocese have successfully arrived at Namugongo Anglican Shrine in preparation for the 2025 Martyrs’ Day celebrations slated for June 3rd.
The pilgrims, who began their spiritual journey on foot, arrived in Kampala on May 29th and camped at St. Luke’s Church in Ntinda.
After two days of rest, they proceeded to Namugongo, where they were seen singing, dancing, and expressing gratitude to God for a safe journey.
“Many are full of energy, singing songs of praise, dancing with joy, and grateful to God for bringing them safely this far,” said Johnson Rwothomio, one of the pilgrims.
Another pilgrim, Tony Aperu, described the journey as long and challenging but spiritually rewarding.
Bishop Pons Ozelle of Nebbi Diocese, who joined the pilgrims, encouraged the youth to live purposeful lives as they gathered for the annual celebration honoring the Uganda Martyrs.
