At least 34 scripts of missing Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Integrated Science scripts from Bamure Primary School in Koboko District have been after routine quality control procedures conducted ahead of the release of results.

In a public statement dated February 3rd, 2026, Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) confirmed that the scripts, earlier flagged as missing, were discovered intact in a sealed envelope during verification checks at marking centres and later at the school.

According to the Board, the learners had been tentatively awarded an “X” as investigations were ongoing to trace the scripts.

The probe eventually led to the discovery of the envelope in a lockable box designated for UNEB materials in the head teacher’s office.

Jennifer Kalule-Musamba UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer said that to eliminate any doubt, the scripts were handed over to Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed that the envelope had not been tampered with before releasing them for marking.

“The incident demonstrates the effectiveness of UNEB’s safeguards designed to protect the integrity of national examinations,” she added.

Kalule also said that the Board’s quality assurance systems are intended to detect anomalies early and ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged adding that the scripts have since been forwarded for marking and grading.

UNEB reassured parents, candidates and other stakeholders that the affected scripts will be processed expeditiously and that the learners will be graded in time to participate in the national selection and placement exercise.

UNEB said the recovery will not affect grading timelines and assured stakeholders that all affected candidates will be considered during the selection and placement exercise.
