A tragic incident has left one student dead following a violent clash between students of Iganga Parents Secondary School and Iganga Progressive Senior Secondary School. The clash which occurred on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, at the Ssaza grounds in Iganga District, where students had gathered for a patriotic training session.
The event, meant to promote unity and national pride among youth, took a tragic turn as violence broke out during the students’ departure from the grounds after the patriotic graduation.
This morning, the headteacher of Iganga Parents SSS, Mr. Asuman Mpata, confirmed the death of Muhamed Bikado, a Senior One student at the school who was severely injured in yesterday’s clash, rushed to hospital but sadly passed on this morning.
Mr. Mpata stated that while the exact cause of the clash remains unclear, both schools are cooperating fully with police, who have launched an investigation into the incident.
“We, as the schools involved, are working closely with the police who have begun investigations into the unfortunate death of one of our students,” said Mr. Mpata.
Both institutions have expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the bereaved family. They have also committed to supporting efforts that promote safety, peace, and discipline during inter-school engagements.
The violence at Ssaza grounds serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of proper coordination and supervision during school events involving multiple institutions.
