The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member of National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party and Deputy Lord Mayor for Kampala, Doreen Nyanjura has promised to continue fighting for transparency, democracy and justice in her party, adding that she will continue to fight so that the party continues to ride on them.

Nyanjura made the remarks during a press conference held at Fairway Hotel in Kampala on Thursday, August 3, 2023, with an aim of stopping members from participating in the ongoing internal party leadership selection exercise.

“I love transparency, democracy more than I love FDC. That is why some of us did not support National Resistance Movement (NRM) and joined FDC to ensure that we have democracy, transparency and justice. But where we are today, Nandala does not want to understand,” Nyanjura noted.

She said that she will not allow President Museveni to come and rule her in FDC through Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the FDC party Secretary General and Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the party President.

“I swore to fight tooth and nail and with whatever is necessary to ensure that Nandala and POA exit the FDC party,” Nyanjura said.

She added that, she is going to mobilize FDC party members to come together and fight hard to save the party.

She said that the staunch party members will not receive money and keep quiet, adding that, the supporters she knows are different and that she is sure that they will fight for the party and revive it.

“Unless Mafabi has forgotten the FDC supporters who he very well knows are not easily enticed by money nor intimidated by police, he should then continue with all this ongoing internal party leadership selection exercise,” Nyanjura noted.

The Buhweju County Member of Parliament, Francis Mwijukye said that, it was not a coincidence that as Byabakama was announcing the 2026 election roadmap, POA and Mafabi were organizing an election.

He added that President Museveni can only take over Mafabi and Amuriat but not FDC party.
