The National Unity Platform (NUP) has welcomed over 400 new party supporters from different political parties on Friday, November 24, 2023.

While addressing party supporters, new party members, and the media at the new NUP party offices in Makerere Kavule, the party Secretary General, Lewis Rubongoya said that, NUP received 457 new supporters, 291 of whom were from the Eastern districts of Uganda, 101 from Buganda and 57 from Northern Uganda, 101 from Buganda, and six joined from western Uganda.

“Today we had members from NRM, UPC, FDC, and the Federal Alliance parties join us in the struggle and we are happy they made that decision, and we welcome them to the party,” Rubongoya said.

“To the new party members today, we charge you to do the work and that is the only way we shall build the revolution,” Rubongoya added.

Robert Kyagulanyi, the NUP Party President welcomed new members into the party and urged the old members (Pioneers) to make the new members feel comfortable and work together for a greater cause.

“We are all equal in NUP regardless of when one joined, let’s make these new members feel loved and feel they have joined the right home. As a team we have a responsibility to remain trustworthy and to keep hope alive,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi warned that, any new member that has joined NUP to just have fun is in a wrong place and welcomed all politicians who joined them. He reminded them that they are not just looking at 2026, but want to change things with immediate effect.

The National Unity Platform intends to resume round two of its nationwide tour primarily to mobilize for more support for the party and launch its other district offices.
