The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has welcomed more than 250 new members into the party at their party headquarters in Makerere Kavule.

While speaking to the media and party members on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, welcomed new members into the party but urged them to remain steadfast to the cause and resist fronting selfish interests.

“You are very welcome, and we must be very clear to you: you have not joined any normal political party but a revolution; if you have joined us for selfish reasons, then you are in the wrong party,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi welcomed students from different universities headed by the Makerere University chapter, thanked them for opting to join NUP and fighting for change in this country, and encouraged them to go and recruit many others into the party.

“Young people from universities, please come and contest, and we shall support you and be with you as long as you are on the right track. For the new members, we shall support you and welcome you, but we shall keep an eye on you. Go and recruit many others and tell them about our discipline, integrity, our values, and everything,“ Kyagulanyi added.

The new members from different political parties across the country surrendered their former party cards and t-shirts and were received warmly by party leaders and other party supporters at NUP.
