Dr. Abed Bwanika, the Member of Parliament for Kimaanya Kabonera on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, has said that the National Unity Platform (NUP) is in the intensive care unit, adding that the way Robert Kyagulunyi handled Mathias Mpuuga’s issue was wrong.
According to Bwanika, the party has organs that they should have engaged to handle the issue instead of calling a few people and later letting the issue flood the news.
“As a party, the issue was not handled well; we should have done better. There are so many ways we could have done it, but since it is an ICU case, I just saw the party coming up with pronouncements and verdicts,” Bwanika said.
Bwanika made these remarks while addressing the turbulence in political parties on local television.
He further stated that the handling of the Mpuuga issue didn’t display good leadership, and he advised the top leadership to reform the party.
“One time we were called to meet NEC members of NUP for the first time, and shockingly, it was the likes of Nubian Lee, Mosh, and Mikie Wine,” Bwanika said.
Ssemujju Nganda, a member of Parliament representing Kira Municipality on the Forum for Democratic Change party ticket, said that Mpuuga handles issues differently, saying he is the type to roll in the mud or on tables, remove his shirt, something Mpuuga cannot do.
“If you tell me to remove my shirt, I will; Mpuuga will not, and that is his style,” Ssemujju said.
According to Ssemujju and Bwanika, Mpuuga’s issue should have been handled in a totally different way, since he is not one to roll on tables when it comes to solving conflicts.
