The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has endorsed Harriet Ageno as their party flag bearer for the upcoming Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-election.

The flag bearer was unveiled by NUP party President Robert Kyagulanyi on February 28, 2024, on his social media account X.

“Behold our candidate for Dokolo Woman MP, Ageno Harriet,” Kyagulanyi tweeted.

The National Unity platform is currently the latest party to front a candidate for the Dokolo Woman MP by-election after many other parties showed interest in the same seat.

Ageno joins the race with Sarah Aguti Nyangkori (UPC), Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal (FDC), Janet Adongo Elau (NRM), and others on an independent ticket.

According to the Electoral Commission roadmap, the nomination of candidates will be conducted from March 11–12, 2024, at the Office of the District Returning Officer in Dokolo, and the successfully nominated candidates will conduct campaign meetings for seven days, that is, from March 13–19, 2024.

EC noted that the polling and tallying of results for the by-election of councillors representing special interest groups will take place on Monday, March 18, 2024, while the polling day for the District Woman Representative to Parliament and other local government councillors will be conducted on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

The District Woman Representative seat for Dokolo fell vacant following the death of the former Representative (MP), Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, which occurred on January 18, 2024.
