The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) have confirmed that the Njovu ADF group is responsible for the recent attack in Kasese, which led to the death of one and injured another.

The acting police spokesperson in Rwenzori East Region, SP Luke Mbusa, Biira, and her son were camping in the garden to chase away birds from destroying their already-harvested rice when the attack happened.

Mbusa noted that Maserika managed to escape from the assailants after they injured him on the head, neck, and other parts of the body.

“He ran away from them and went to Ngoko Trading Centre, about three kilometers from the scene of the crime. ,” Mbusa narrated.

SP Mbusa said Maserika is currently at Mount St. Marys Hospital in Kasese district.
